Ben Kawaller hosts the sociopolitical interview series Ben Meets America for The Free Press. His writing and/or video reporting have also appeared in Los Angeles Magazine, the erstwhile West Hollywood local publication Wehoville, The Advocate, Salon, and The American Bystander.

Before moving into journalism, Ben spent nearly a decade pursuing, with varying levels of dedication, a career in TV writing. Highlights from these years include creating and starring in the independent comedy pilot This Isn’t Me (a 2020 SXSW Official Selection), being listed by The Black List for his 2016 dark-comedy pilot The Next Best Thing, and workshopping his Jordan Peterson–inspired play about campus gender politics, Us and Them, with Los Angeles’ Rogue Machine Theatre in 2022. 

Ben holds a B.A. in Sociology from Harvard University. Whatever has become of Harvard, he didn’t endure four years of that place not to put it in his bio for the rest of his life.
