Chris Hunter

CoFounder, Satoshi
Chris Hunter is a 47 year-old native New Yorker. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Rutgers University (B.S. summa cum laude), and subsequently completed graduate studies at both Columbia and London Business Schools.

The first 15 years of his career were spent in the cleantech industry, where Chris founded and led two solar energy companies — both of which were successfully sold to European private equity firms.

Subsequently, he became a very active Angel investor — largely across the energy, hospitality and fintech sectors. Chris also continued to create new global businesses. His primary focus is now accelerating worldwide consumer adoption for one of the most important technologies ever invented: Bitcoin.

During the past five years, he has created four (4) high-profile Bitcoin companies: Galoy, Blink, Epoch VC and Satoshi. Galoy in particular is backed by some of of the top U.S. venture capitalists, including David Sack’s Craft Ventures.

Chris' work at Galoy and Blink had a strong hand in El Salvador becoming the first and only country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. The story of this work in El Salvador was chronicled in a long-form CBS 60 Minutes feature segment that aired in 2022.

In addition to creating four leading Bitcoin firms, Chris has also been one of the most prolific Angel investors in the industry. He has written large “first checks” directly supporting more than 40 companies building on Bitcoin.
