Joel Bomgar is President of Próspera, the world’s first charter city / free private city, located on the island of Roatán in the Caribbean. Próspera has the highest degree of liberty and freedom of any jurisdiction in the world, and was the first jurisdiction in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.

Joel has more than two decades of executive leadership experience in technology, entrepreneurship, and public policy. He is the Founder of Bomgar Corporation (now BeyondTrust), the global leader in remote support technology and Privileged Access Management (PAM), with more than 20,000 customers worldwide, including 78 of the Fortune 100, and offices worldwide.

Joel also served for eight years as a State Representative in the Mississippi House of Representatives, from 2016 to 2024.

Joel is an ardent liberty advocate and has the strongest liberty and freedom voting record in the country, advancing criminal justice reform, education choice, drug policy reform, an end to civil asset forfeiture, and access to medical marijuana for patients with debilitating medical conditions.

Joel is also the Founder and Honorary Chairman of the Hazlitt Coalition, a nationwide coalition of liberty legislators that is now part of Young Americans for Liberty, and Joel is the founder of the Out of Last Place Institute in Mississippi as well.

Joel is a big believer and evangelist for sound money, specifically in the form of Bitcoin, which he considers one of the greatest inventions and forces for good in the world.
