Patrick Acuña served 30 years after being sentenced to Life Without Parole—death by incarceration. On Christmas Eve of 2018, California Governor E. Jerry Brown recognized Patrick’s rehabilitation efforts and commuted his sentence to 25-to-Life. After being released from prison in 2022, he is currently completing a BA in Social Ecology at UC Irvine with plans to graduate in 2025. Thereafter, he aims to pursue a joint J.D. and PhD in Psychological Science.
